One of my students asked ‘why favorites change over time?’ I asked ‘what do you mean by the change?’ ‘do you mean like enjoying coffee which you didn’t when you were a child?’ The student goes ‘yes, something like that’. Another student asked me ‘are we being controlled by our brain? Or are we controlling our brain?’ I asked ‘why did you ask that questions?’ The student says ‘because I am confused sometimes.’ So, I asked the first student – ‘was it you decided to change your favorites? Or your favorites just changed by itself?’ The student goes ‘it changed by itself.’ I asked the second student ‘Favorites changed without intention. What do you think that means?’ People think that they are the one controlling the brain. But in fact, they are being controlled by the brain most of the time.
